I didn’t start drinking coffee until my sophomore year of college, but after that, it was all over. I was hooked. My caffeine addiction has become more than addiction, it’s become a part of my daily routine. In college, I would drink redeyes (three shots of espresso and coffee) to keep me awake. Now, I drink almost six cups a day just to keep me normal. It’s a habit and an expensive one at that.Which is why the recent buzz about beauty products containing caffeine has me all hopped up. According to the New York Times (my daily read with my first cup of joe), caffeine has found it’s way into various different beauty items. Kiehl’s uses caffeine in its eye cream to help reduce puffiness (a constant for me during undergrad) and Bliss’s Fat Girl Slim to help combat cellulite.
According to the NYT, it’s still under debate whether or not the caffeine actually helps in products, or if it delivers as much as your daily redbull or triple latte like this body wash claims to do. Whatever it is your looking for, the caffeine in these is sure to do something to rejuvenate, refresh, awaken or un-dimple… just don’t count on it to give you the same jolt that your am pot of coffee will provide.
And if you’re pulling quarters from the bottom of your purse to pay for your iced coffees (like I was today) check out this website for some homemade caffeinated beauty fixes complete with instructions.
