First, lets get something out of the way. we live in MODERN times, with MODERN preventative solutions to the results of sex, may they be children, STD’s what-have-you. As such, we are no longer tied to the antiquated victorian views of sex that have been perpetuated right along with the belief that “women and men are not equal”. Granted, I’m pretty firmly entrenched in the belief that if you are old enough to have sex, than you should know what you’re doing - and if you don’t than either your parents, the school system, or your own self has failed at some point along the way - but we have a right as a gender to choose what happens to our bodies as a result of our own or others actions. Everybody makes mistakes, it’s a tried and true law of being human, and if you have the resources to correct the mistake, then generally you do.

Second, oh-my-GOD who CARES how many sexual partners you’ve had as long as you’re clean!? I’m sick to death of this issue, and articles like this one: http://www.collegecandy.com/sex/7860 have already covered most of the basic points.

Lastly, to return to my original point: CHILDREN = PUNISHMENT?? That’s not even remotely funny, nor should it be remarked upon in such an off-handed matter. My mother was a public school teacher, and as such I was privy to much ranting and raving about the state of parenting in our dear United States. Frankly, there are enough parents out there (who may or may not have planned on having their own bouncing baby) that are failing at the most basic levels of discipline and instilling a sense of right and wrong that we really need not wish any more children upon the world that won’t be born into loving homes with two prepared parents.

Haley- You would be so surprised at how many men do find it important to know how many men a girl has slept it. Some men don’t want something used and loose. It’s a sad and true reality. I guess those children that aren’t disciplined correctly turn out to be the sluts and whores. It sounds plausible. Also, biologically and physically men and women aren’t equal. You can’t deny that. Women, in general, have smaller sized brains than men. Another reason not to have sex with many partners: AIDS, HERPES, and other STI’s. You people are just perpetuating sexual diseases. It’s kind of sick.

in all seriousness though, having random hook ups and casual sex can be as simple as you want it to be or as complicated as you let it be - it’s all up to you.

and you know what, i really don’t care what my future husband’s number of previous sexual partners is, because it doesn’t matter. as long as he’s committed to me while we’re together, that’s all that truly matters. if nothing else, the fact that we’ve been around the block a few times means we’ll have more experience and be better at pleasing each other!

honestly, haha, it certainly sounds like you’re the one with the personal issues here. you need to just get laid and relieve a little stress, trust me you’ll be in a GREAT mood afterwards. there’s nothing better than cuddling up to a cute boy after having some hot sex.

And this Haha chick is ridiculous. When a college-age female is in no condition to raise a child, the best option is to keep it that way. It punishes both a child and its parent unnecessarily if the pregnancy is allowed to be carried out. I fully support women who seek out EC, because it’s the responsible response to a less-than-responsible decision (unsafe sex), or just a solution to a broken condom.

This site does nothing but promote girls having enough self esteem to be comfortable with their sexuality or lack their of. if you’re going to criticize it for doing that, you should probably stop coming here and reading articles. obviously you are not mature or open minded enough for them.

Also, I am not against birth control or even sex. I’m against irresponsibility, lack of judgment, and lack of self-control. These seem to be exhibited by everyone on this site. Geez. Have some integrity and standards when you pick someone to sleep with. Don’t just do it because men do it.

and I have extremely high standards when I sleep with someone. You seem to be assuming that everyone here is a slut just because they enjoy sex. You can have a healthy, responsible sex life without being a slut, whore, or getting aids. It’s insulting that you are grouping everyone who has sex as whores and sluts.

At the end of the day, however, you have no experience whatsoever with any of this, and the fact of the matter is, you cannot have any idea unless you have experienced it.

Why is it necessary for someone to get herpes or aids in order for them to learn a lesson? It’s apparent that the writer of the original story has learned something from her experiences. If you disagree with everyone who writes and reads this blog then stay away!

Was Sady safe? No, but she has learned, and quite frankly, that is the most important thing. Maybe her mother gave her a book to read instead of sitting down and having a discussion about the female body and all of its inner workings. Maybe her high school had an abstinence-only oriented sex-ed program. Or maybe she had to learn the hard way. If we continue to judge others so harshly, we will continue the cycle of horrid, preconceived notions of men and women and their “innate inequality”.

First of all, to the OP - I’m so sorry you had to endure the hate/scorn/religious persecution from someone else that was so involved in their own religion they refused to perform their job and assist another human being.

Second of all, to Haha - Wow. You are so wrong, on so many levels. Let’s see if I can go over a few of them.

1) The first doctor was wrong. She took an oath when she became a doctor, and she violated it because of her religious beliefs. That would be akin to a Jew refusing to serve pork at a fine restaurant. He would get fired, and so should that doctor. What she did was rude, wrong, and unforgivable.

2) You’re right, men and women are NOT biologically equal. I have a penis, you don’t. However, your idea that women have statistically smaller brain sizes than men is not only logically absurd, but it’s been scientifically proven several times over this is not true. Those studies you must be referring to are actually from about the same time as your sexual beliefs come from - Victorian.

3) No one here has by any means perpetuated STDs via their communications here. I don’t even get that.

4) Having pregnancy scares doesn’t just happen to women, and if a woman has one, it sure doesn’t make her stupid. Same for a second, or third. Are you familiar with Calculus? Good, cause even her Nth pregnancy scare wouldn’t make her stupid.

5) “You give yourselves a bad name. I have nothing to do with that. Also, no thank you, I don’t want to join the whore and slut club.” Can you read that a couple times and see if you can spot the contradiction?

6) If you think STDs and AIDS in specific are funny on ANY level, I hope it’s YOU that get them. That would be a super lesson. Wishing pain and death on someone else for making a questionable sexual choice smacks of radical Islam. Congrats.

7) The distinction between who guys will date and who guys will marry has nothing to do with the amount of sexual partners you have. It has to do with how many things you do that bother us, and how well we can deal with those things if we live with you. And no, we do not want the innocent ones. They aren’t fun enough, for a variety of different reasons, not just the sex.

And lastly, just for your info, my second (I’m only 20, and not ‘cute’, sigh) sexual relationship was unimaginably better than the first one. And you know what? It was because of EXPERIENCE. We’d both had previous partners and that allowed us to be comfortable and relaxed which ultimately allowed us to have more FUN while we were having sex, as well as a healthy dialog regarding it when we weren’t. Obviously there was more than sex to that relationship, but it was really eye opening to me at least what a difference it made.

You’re right. I once had sex without a condom, when I was eighteen years old. This, no doubt, started me down the path of flagrant ho-baggery. It’s also why I’ve used a condom in every encounter since - although, loose and used as I am, God saw fit to curse me with two broken condoms, which led to the two EC experiences I described. If you had read the first part of my article, you would have known this - but you clearly didn’t, and why would you? Knowing the facts would only cloud your judgment.

Back to the real issue: Thank you so much sady for this article, I have also had a nurse turn down even just the information about where i could get EC from, because of her personal beliefs. I was 17 and burst into tears over the fact that a stranger could be so selfishly caught up in her own religion.
I would’ve thought it was illegal to refuse help like that. It’s certainly unethical.

On top of that, my personality is so incredibly detestable that NO one would even sleep with me if I tried, so I’ve resorted to makign a soap box out of all the ugly pictures of myself I keep from the public. I dont really have any friends, so no one can actually level with me and get me to understand how screwed up I am, and the only person who will actually listen to me talk is the local preacher here in my polygamy camp that was raided last week. Now he’s in jail and I’m all alone, so I’ve discovered a new way to vent my frustrations.

And yes, I’ve finally realized that when I get to Heaven God will most likely laugh in my face and tell me what a complete moron I am for being such a self-righteous judging bigot.

On the other hand, after your first experience, i think maybe you should have taken the time and effort to educate urself on protection, dont get me wrong,anyone no matter who they are can wind up needing the EC, but after the first experience im a little confused as to why you wouldnt take steps to stop needing it again.

at the end of the day,what you do is your buissniess and im glad your on the pill(even if it is a pain on the ass) and FINALLY took the time to find out other methods besides condoms. But really,your not having sex with yourself and i think its shit that you had to deal with it all yourself.
