The first doctor was right: if you're too stupid to not know your options you should keep your legs closed and not have sex. I guess you don't have self-control. The world doesn't revolve around sex you know. People don't have to give into your needs if they don't agree with you either. I hope you get pregnant so you can learn your lesson. You'd probably just go to PP and get an abortion. Easy solution, isn't it? It's people like you that ruin it for other women who are actually responsible.

J- I just find it funny that most of the things that you guys write are about hooking up and sex and then you complain about being called "sluts" and "whores." It's funny how you guys don't see or don't get the correlation. Or you don't want to. I'm sorry but if you have a lot of sex with different partners you're a slut. No matter which way you try to turn it. You're still a slut. I know it's a double standard but women have more to lose than men: dignity, respect, and more. Women and men are not equal. You guys should just deal with it. It's just a childish thing to say "oh but if they can do it why can't we?" Men are biologically driven to be "sluts" and to "spread" their "seed" everywhere. Women, on the other hand, have no "seed" to spread,so, they are usually less promiscuous than the male.

so by what twisted logic does child = punishment come from?

First, lets get something out of the way. we live in MODERN times, with MODERN preventative solutions to the results of sex, may they be children, STD's what-have-you. As such, we are no longer tied to the antiquated victorian views of sex that have been perpetuated right along with the belief that "women and men are not equal". Granted, I'm pretty firmly entrenched in the belief that if you are old enough to have sex, than you should know what you're doing - and if you don't than either your parents, the school system, or your own self has failed at some point along the way - but we have a right as a gender to choose what happens to our bodies as a result of our own or others actions. Everybody makes mistakes, it's a tried and true law of being human, and if you have the resources to correct the mistake, then generally you do.

Second, oh-my-GOD who CARES how many sexual partners you've had as long as you're clean!? I'm sick to death of this issue, and articles like this one: http://www.collegecandy.com/sex/7860 have already covered most of the basic points.

Lastly, to return to my original point: CHILDREN = PUNISHMENT?? That's not even remotely funny, nor should it be remarked upon in such an off-handed matter. My mother was a public school teacher, and as such I was privy to much ranting and raving about the state of parenting in our dear United States. Frankly, there are enough parents out there (who may or may not have planned on having their own bouncing baby) that are failing at the most basic levels of discipline and instilling a sense of right and wrong that we really need not wish any more children upon the world that won't be born into loving homes with two prepared parents.

I just find it odd that this website makes it out as if ALL college women were fucking everything in sight and are busy being sluts. Why don't you people TRY promoting DIFFERENT healthy sexual lifestyles. Don't assume that All college women are having sex and like fucking random guys. I'm not and I don't feel bad about it. I actually feel good about it. It's not like I don't masturbate.

Haley- You would be so surprised at how many men do find it important to know how many men a girl has slept it. Some men don't want something used and loose. It's a sad and true reality. I guess those children that aren't disciplined correctly turn out to be the sluts and whores. It sounds plausible. Also, biologically and physically men and women aren't equal. You can't deny that. Women, in general, have smaller sized brains than men. Another reason not to have sex with many partners: AIDS, HERPES, and other STI's. You people are just perpetuating sexual diseases. It's kind of sick.

Haha, I'm not going to vindicate your response with another response--I think you enjoy the attention, otherwise you wouldn't continue to visit the site.
If you don't agree with the blogs posted by these intelligent, kind, confident women, then just don't come here. It's fairly simple.
No one is forcing you to agree with anything anyone is saying, so your rudeness is uncalled for, offensive, and unwelcome.

I wouldn't call having a pregnancy scare happen to the SAME person THREE TIMES intelligent. It's called STUPID. I'm sorry that you don't like hearing or reading the truth of what many people think (not just me). I find it offensive that people could read things about random sex and hookups and then go off thinking that it's as simple as these women are portraying it to be and then they could wind up getting hurt, getting an STI, or even worse getting AIDS. THAT is offensive.

haha - who are you to judge anyone else by their actions and their lives? stop being all high & mighty and go out & live a little. god, girls like you give the rest of us a bad name by being so close-minded and judgmental. it's not the boys who are calling girls who have fun sluts - its fellow females like you.

in all seriousness though, having random hook ups and casual sex can be as simple as you want it to be or as complicated as you let it be - it's all up to you.

and you know what, i really don't care what my future husband's number of previous sexual partners is, because it doesn't matter. as long as he's committed to me while we're together, that's all that truly matters. if nothing else, the fact that we've been around the block a few times means we'll have more experience and be better at pleasing each other!

honestly, haha, it certainly sounds like you're the one with the personal issues here. you need to just get laid and relieve a little stress, trust me you'll be in a GREAT mood afterwards. there's nothing better than cuddling up to a cute boy after having some hot sex.

you should try it sometimes. you might be surprised at how much you like it.

You give yourselves a bad name. I have nothing to do with that. Also, no thank you, I don't want to join the whore and slut club. I'm fine the way I am. I think it would be hilarious, if in the future, one of you got herpes or AIDS from sleeping around so much. It also would be well deserved for your lack of self-control and judgment. Also, guys might want to date you but they won't want to marry you. They want the innocent ones like me.

As a Christian myself and someone who is still trying to sort out my faith, let me apologize on behalf of the 1st dr. you went to. There are few things that get under my skin more than judgmental Christians, and she had no right to judge you by telling you to keep your legs closed [umm hello, the bible says DONT judge!]. Also, I think that EC affects your body in a way that makes it extremely hard for an egg to be 'fertilized' by sperm, it doesn't actually kill a young fetus so I don't get the problem there. HOWEVER, I would hope that after 3 scares you are a lot more careful with yourself and your body now. Not only because of possible pregnancies, but the plethora of nasty, life-threatening STD's out there...good luck n God bless!

I'm still shocked from that first doctor allowing her faith to interfere with her work, that's just unethical for her as a medical professional. She should've become a nun instead.

And this Haha chick is ridiculous. When a college-age female is in no condition to raise a child, the best option is to keep it that way. It punishes both a child and its parent unnecessarily if the pregnancy is allowed to be carried out. I fully support women who seek out EC, because it's the responsible response to a less-than-responsible decision (unsafe sex), or just a solution to a broken condom.

Haha- Funny, but I can't help but notice that you hide behind your silly username of "haha." Clearly, you have something to be embarrassed about if you cannot even summon the pride to display your true name. Not that I care who you are. I find your comments interesting, but mainly as Molly said, rude and terribly old-fashioned. Perhaps this novel thought has never entered your "mind," but why not attempt to leave the Victorian era behind? Welcome to the 21st century.

haha- to say that it would be "hilarious" for one of these women to get herpes or aids is ridiculous and sad. people, including you, make mistakes and it sounds as if sady has learned from her mistakes even if it took her a little while. you asked not to be judged for remaining pure and you deserve that respect but so do the women who choose to be sexually active.

haha - they have had a lot of articles about keeping your virginity until you are ready, not to mention countless articles about healthy relationships. not only that, but never has anyone on this site said that it is good to go out, get wasted, and sleep with random people. They simply encourage girls to not be ashamed of their sexuality and making smart decisions. this girl did not share her story to make us think she's a slut, but to lets girls know that if they do make a mistake every once and a while, they have options to deal with the consequences.

This site does nothing but promote girls having enough self esteem to be comfortable with their sexuality or lack their of. if you're going to criticize it for doing that, you should probably stop coming here and reading articles. obviously you are not mature or open minded enough for them.

i just read the entire string of comments and had to add my 2 cents too. haha is being ridiculous and i agree with everyone who disagrees with her. I think that this site is amazing because of people simply sharing their stories and if you want to judge and ridicule and be a bitch about these people these stories then you have issuses. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but when you start saying that you would laugh if someone got aids? what the hell? thats uncalled for. These people are putting themselves out there and shouldnt be shot down, but respected for what they have to tell.

A DOCTOR said that? Religion should not have came into it, as her duty as a doctor she should have helped you. If that were a clinic near me I would be complaining heavily.

I would rather be a member of the "whore and slut club" than the HEINOUS BITCH club any day, thank you.

Molly- I think it would be hilarious. It would defiinitely teach them a lesson. A well deserved lesson. Also, I'm sure they would regret everything that they've done. That's what makes it more funny. I'm sorry you don't like to hear the truth.

Also, I am not against birth control or even sex. I'm against irresponsibility, lack of judgment, and lack of self-control. These seem to be exhibited by everyone on this site. Geez. Have some integrity and standards when you pick someone to sleep with. Don't just do it because men do it.

if you WANT to do it, it's not a lack of self control.

and I have extremely high standards when I sleep with someone. You seem to be assuming that everyone here is a slut just because they enjoy sex. You can have a healthy, responsible sex life without being a slut, whore, or getting aids. It's insulting that you are grouping everyone who has sex as whores and sluts.

At the end of the day, however, you have no experience whatsoever with any of this, and the fact of the matter is, you cannot have any idea unless you have experienced it.

I don't have the urge to go rock climbing, in fact, I'm terrified of heights. But I'm sure as hell not going to tell YOU that that it sucks, is no fun, and you could die. Because for all I know, it's the best thing in the world. And I wouldn't think it was HILARIOUS if a climber had a freak accident and died. "Well, they got what they deserved for doing something stupid!"
It doesn't hurt me if you do it.

And it doesn't hurt you that I have sex, so just STOP TALKING.

1. It's pretty funny that you are still hiding behind that name.

2. No one in this string of comments agrees with you, not even the girl who says she is a christian. We do not care to hear your ill-chosen, hate-inspired words. Please leave. You are not making any sort of point whatsoever except that you are narrow-minded and embarrassing to the rest of us because of your judgmental attitude.

3. Are you a member of the Westboro Baptist Church? http://www.godhatesfags.com/ If you are not, i suggest you join. You'd fit right in.

*chuckles with everyone else*

Why is it necessary for someone to get herpes or aids in order for them to learn a lesson? It's apparent that the writer of the original story has learned something from her experiences. If you disagree with everyone who writes and reads this blog then stay away!

Men and women are DIFFERENT. But that does not make them unequal. You can have multiple sexual partners, no matter your gender, and be healthy and safe. The fact that people, such as "Haha", exist, only further perpetuates the idea that while men are simply "spreading their seeds" and "exploring", women are nothing less than "sluts" and "whores". I women can be whores, so can men. If men can explore, so can women.

Was Sady safe? No, but she has learned, and quite frankly, that is the most important thing. Maybe her mother gave her a book to read instead of sitting down and having a discussion about the female body and all of its inner workings. Maybe her high school had an abstinence-only oriented sex-ed program. Or maybe she had to learn the hard way. If we continue to judge others so harshly, we will continue the cycle of horrid, preconceived notions of men and women and their "innate inequality".

Hi, not sure HOW or WHY I am here, but I did feel the need to chime in after reading everything.

First of all, to the OP - I'm so sorry you had to endure the hate/scorn/religious persecution from someone else that was so involved in their own religion they refused to perform their job and assist another human being.

Second of all, to Haha - Wow. You are so wrong, on so many levels. Let's see if I can go over a few of them.

1) The first doctor was wrong. She took an oath when she became a doctor, and she violated it because of her religious beliefs. That would be akin to a Jew refusing to serve pork at a fine restaurant. He would get fired, and so should that doctor. What she did was rude, wrong, and unforgivable.

2) You're right, men and women are NOT biologically equal. I have a penis, you don't. However, your idea that women have statistically smaller brain sizes than men is not only logically absurd, but it's been scientifically proven several times over this is not true. Those studies you must be referring to are actually from about the same time as your sexual beliefs come from - Victorian.

3) No one here has by any means perpetuated STDs via their communications here. I don't even get that.

4) Having pregnancy scares doesn't just happen to women, and if a woman has one, it sure doesn't make her stupid. Same for a second, or third. Are you familiar with Calculus? Good, cause even her Nth pregnancy scare wouldn't make her stupid.

5) "You give yourselves a bad name. I have nothing to do with that. Also, no thank you, I don’t want to join the whore and slut club." Can you read that a couple times and see if you can spot the contradiction?

6) If you think STDs and AIDS in specific are funny on ANY level, I hope it's YOU that get them. That would be a super lesson. Wishing pain and death on someone else for making a questionable sexual choice smacks of radical Islam. Congrats.

7) The distinction between who guys will date and who guys will marry has nothing to do with the amount of sexual partners you have. It has to do with how many things you do that bother us, and how well we can deal with those things if we live with you. And no, we do not want the innocent ones. They aren't fun enough, for a variety of different reasons, not just the sex.

And lastly, just for your info, my second (I'm only 20, and not 'cute', sigh) sexual relationship was unimaginably better than the first one. And you know what? It was because of EXPERIENCE. We'd both had previous partners and that allowed us to be comfortable and relaxed which ultimately allowed us to have more FUN while we were having sex, as well as a healthy dialog regarding it when we weren't. Obviously there was more than sex to that relationship, but it was really eye opening to me at least what a difference it made.

Dear, sweet HaHa -

You're right. I once had sex without a condom, when I was eighteen years old. This, no doubt, started me down the path of flagrant ho-baggery. It's also why I've used a condom in every encounter since - although, loose and used as I am, God saw fit to curse me with two broken condoms, which led to the two EC experiences I described. If you had read the first part of my article, you would have known this - but you clearly didn't, and why would you? Knowing the facts would only cloud your judgment.

Thank you, HaHa. Really. I must now enter a convent, to atone for my life of sin. After all, it's either that or get AIDS and deliver a child - no doubt with you in the delivery room! What a laugh riot that would be, right? Oh, the times we'd have together, you and I!

Now, I must rest. All of this logical thinking has tired my puny woman-brain.

Hugs & Kisses (but not with the tongue!),

Sady.

PS: I'm assuming that when I have the illegitimate baby, you'll raise it, feed it, and pay its way through college. Am I right? After all, I'll be dead of the AIDS! (Still funny, by the way!) Surely, since you have such a deeply rooted concern for my well-being, you'll be able to raise my tragically orphaned child. After all, we're so close.

Haha- Well you know what I think would be "hilarious?" If someone raped your ass and you ended up killing yourself for being in the whore club...

You sound like a stupid 14 year old bitch, and I hope someone jumps you.

Now to that I can truly say, "HAHA!"

Thanks a lot for writing about your experiences. I can't imagine how terrifying it must have been to be refused treatment like that.
It's such a relief to know that now women can purchase and have easy access to plan b just in case. Thanks again for posting!

Seriously THREE times? I thought anyone with common sense and the opportunity would go on the pill immediately. And those who couldn't would obviously use condoms. Thank you though for sharing your experience since it certainly opened my naive eyes to women and sexual encounters today. Hopefully others will learn from this. and in the future i will check my assumptions about women and their level of sexual education and also their judgment calls. This was definitely and important and interesting read for me.

haha- after reading the full post, i find your comments extremely bigoted and insulting.

“I think it would be hilarious, if in the future, one of you got herpes or AIDS from sleeping around so much.”

Here's a thought... You don't catch AIDS because you slept with A LOT of people, you catch it because ONE person you slept with had it. Therefor, its possible that any person could become affected, and OHMYGOD! IT MIGHT NOT BE BECAUSE THEY ARE A "WHORE OR SLUT!"
Oh no, that might make too much sense for you.

So just imagine this scenario for a minute:
Pure, innocent haha meets a man and they fall in love. She abstains until marriage, because obviously she has "self control."
Months later she finds out she has an STD. Herpes infact. But how could this happen? Ignorant haha was under the impression only "sluts" could catch them.
Oh dear.

sweet little haha, this is obviously not the site for you. It's sad how one girl has told of her experiences in an effort to help other girls and you have managed to turn almost the entire focus onto you and your hurtful opinions. Please either face up to the modern world, where it is actually OK for a girl to do what she likes with her body, or leave and go back to your Victorian convent.

Back to the real issue: Thank you so much sady for this article, I have also had a nurse turn down even just the information about where i could get EC from, because of her personal beliefs. I was 17 and burst into tears over the fact that a stranger could be so selfishly caught up in her own religion.
I would've thought it was illegal to refuse help like that. It's certainly unethical.

Okay I'm sorry guys. I'm a complete fucking idiot who was actually molested as a child and I simply can't stand the idea of facing up to my past and so I hide behind this veil of virginity and hurl rocks at anyone who is happy with themselves.

On top of that, my personality is so incredibly detestable that NO one would even sleep with me if I tried, so I've resorted to makign a soap box out of all the ugly pictures of myself I keep from the public. I dont really have any friends, so no one can actually level with me and get me to understand how screwed up I am, and the only person who will actually listen to me talk is the local preacher here in my polygamy camp that was raided last week. Now he's in jail and I'm all alone, so I've discovered a new way to vent my frustrations.

And yes, I've finally realized that when I get to Heaven God will most likely laugh in my face and tell me what a complete moron I am for being such a self-righteous judging bigot.

PS. If anyone's hermit uncle will take me, my address will be posted on Craig's List.

Thanks :)

So, um, totally not on topic to the rest of the comments thread, but... EC. A great thing. Unfortunately, some of us, whether through faults of our own or inadequate education or what, aren't really sure of the ins and outs of it. Maybe a basic EC primer would be helpful? I didn't realize you could get EC without prescription now either until it was mentioned in the article above.

Ama...It might depend on where you live, but I'm pretty sure most places you can get it without a prescription..I'm from MA..and the one time I had to get it, I went to a clinic in my town..They asked me for my license..had me fill out a little form, and I was in and out within 5 minutes. I'm a nurse so I didn't have any questions, but they did make sure I could ask if I needed to...it was really a painless experience.

And as for the healthcare professinonals who denied EC to you guys..I'm sorry. I'm Catholic, go to church every week..but I would never deny someone EC...so I'm sorry you had to deal with people that did!

Andrew and Sady - you are my heros.

Haha... I think you need to get laid. :P It might change your mind. Just having sex does not make you a whore. In fact, I have sex quite often. And with the same person every single time I've ever done it. Even so, I've had a pregnancy scare or two... Does that make me a slut too?

Keep your bigotry to yourself. Because karma is a bitch. And when something bad happens to you, maybe you'll like it when we all tell you how it is your fault.

Sady, I'm glad everything turned out ok. Sounds like you have been terribly unlucky, but at least the second guy is not a douche.

Haha, you might indeed be someone a certain type of male would prefer to marry. However, marriage is not the be-all and end-all of sexual relationships (two words: Spitzer scandal!!). Unfortunately, the rate of adultery is very, very high these days. Thus, it is likely that your future husband would have an adulterous relationship with a slut and/or whore and contract an STD, which he would then pass on to you. Although that would be terribly unfair, and a horrific situation, it is still a possibility that you should be aware of. Sadly, I have witnessed that very same situation happen to several people (some of whom 'saved' themselves for their future husbands/wives, only to be betrayed some time after the wedding). Sexual promiscuity is not always what leads to these kinds of terrible diseases, which by the way are no laughing matter.

Furthermore, I don't know if you are a Christian, but if you are then perhaps you should try asking yourself: "What Would Jesus Do?" Because even though His mama was a virgin, He married an ex-prostitute (Mary Magdalene). Even the Lord prefers experienced women!! :)

Good luck and God Bless.

Sady, thank you for sharing your story. The pill is a wonderful invention, as is EC. And I take personal offense at the first doctor's misuse of her faith. It appalls me when people attempt to justify their own personal beliefs by using their religion in order to make it seem like "religious conviction" instead of what it really is, "personal opinion". Her actions are anything but Christian, and she certainly does not speak for all of us, though she attempts to. As a doctor, her first responsibility should be to her patients. If her faith prevents her from doing that, then she should seriously considering getting another job, or at least a position in which she is not put in the position of forcing her personal beliefs onto another person.

I am very glad that you have had some better experiences since then. God Bless.

Wow, where to start. Your first experience was horrible and personally i think prehaps you should have reported the doctor 1) for not carrying out her job & 2)for being rude, insensitive and basically a bitch, what stranger has the right to say that??

On the other hand, after your first experience, i think maybe you should have taken the time and effort to educate urself on protection, dont get me wrong, anyone no matter who they are can wind up needing the EC, but after the first experience im a little confused as to why you wouldnt take steps to stop needing it again.

at the end of the day, what you do is your buissniess and im glad your on the pill(even if it is a pain on the ass) and FINALLY took the time to find out other methods besides condoms. But really, your not having sex with yourself and i think its shit that you had to deal with it all yourself.

Seriously though.that doctor = an embarassment to her self. its embarassing enough to go there and explain your situation withou that. I wonder how many girls left there and didnt know where to go next and now have unwanted children?

Shawna-- Mary Magdalene was not a prostitute. If you read the bible correctly they never really mention her as the prostitute. Also, I'm an atheist and religion has nothing to do with my views.

It took me a lot of patience to read all the comments to the end, they were quite interesting though. I think Haha was rude, very rude in some of her comments. I also agree girls have right to do anything they want with their body; after all it's their own body!
I just have one question, who is a slut or whore? What's the difference between a girl who sleeps with random guy for pleasure and a slut? Would someone kindly answer the it.

Thanks to everybody.

Haha, please. I do not care what you believe and what you choose to do with yourself. That is your business and you have every right to believe and do it. However, please don't try to tell people that their opinions are wrong or immoral just because they do not agree with you. I respect your right to hold your own beliefs, just stop being an ass. Just accept that not all people are like you and have a nice day. You'll feel so much better! :)

I respect your right to hold your own beliefs, just stop being an ass. Just accept that not all people are like you and have a nice day. You’ll feel so much better!
