You may never have heard his name before, but one time professional athlete and Brawny paper towel model Joseph Petcka is currently on trial for killing his girlfriend’s cat — in self-defense.
That’s right. A full grown man. Defending himself against a tabby cat.
After a night full of drinking, screaming at his girlfriend that she loved her cat more than him, and eventually chasing her out of the house, Petcka apparently had an actual altercation with the small animal, getting so angry at it that he eventually “bludgeoned” it to death.
The Devil — I mean Petcka — is pleading self-defense, but I’m sure everyone and their mother hopes he gets convicted. Not even Brawny can clean up this mess.

The issue is that someone can be such a bogus individual that they can’t own up to their horrible drunken behavior…and blame the death of a defenseless house pet as “self-defense”.

I’m going to bypass trying to explain how animals are God’s creatures - and that they feel emotional a physicl pain (”just a cat”) because your average socopath just won’t get it.
HOWEVER, do a little google research on serial killers (or just your everyday guy/gal that only murders one person) and see that the vast majority of them are guilty of ANIMAL CRUELTY in their past. Information about that is all over the place and easy to find. Because you are evil enough to torture animal, does not mean you are a murderer positively, but it does show the person has extreme issues of anger and cruelty…..and that should not be ignored as it is a huge sign of trouble. Freakin sociopath.

So, his girlfriend loves this cat, he knows his girlfriend loves this cat. So he kills the cat to exact revenge on his girlfriend. Even if you’re not a cat-lover or pet owner, you must be blind or stupid to think that there is nothing wrong with this guy.

Dear god people. I’m a fucking animal lover! I frequently almost hit other drivers to do a u-turn and resue poor turtles from imminent death, i cry when i hit a butterfly going down the highway, and i have pet names for every freaking frog in my backyard. I’ve also been known to pry my kitties’ mouths open when they grab a tiny lizard.
the point is… it is only a cat. We cant help that cat- its already dead. Of course its terrible, its disgusting and the guy should go to go jail for animal cruelty, which I’m sure he will. He should also be put on meds, obviously.

I don’t think this article was intended to stir controversy, but it is surprising that people feel the need to belittle the atrocity. That’s what started the argument. I don’t think there’s anything petty about defending the claim that this man should be rightly punnished for harming a defenseless animal and then being pathetic enough to argue self defense.
How do you know he is not the worse man ever? He is still young, and I know this isn’t his first act of violence he has committed. He abused his last girlfriend and slammed her fingers in a heavy metal door cutting one of them off. She was too afraid to press charges against him. He is a sadist. There is something missing in the heart of people that think this is no big deal. I wish every bad thing on this loser.

this is the sickest thing i’ve ever read. this man should be punished as severely as possible. a pet is completely dependent on its owner for everything to keep it alive. when you decide to have a pet, you are taking on responsibility for a creature that is completely powerless. you decide when it eats. where it can go. where it can’t go. whether it lives! for christ’s sake, this is just as bad as child abuse. something totally helpless doesn’t deserve this shit and this guy should be jailed accordingly.

It is a terrible thing that happened to this cat! I am against animal abuse, cruelty or neglect of any kind! He said he was defending himself .. give me a break.
