New Poll Suggests Having Herpes Sucks

herpes

In case you needed another reason to use a condom, recent polls show that people across the nation are still completely skeeved out by the idea of herpes.

In a report released by CBS news and WebMD, “503 U.S. adults with genital herpes and about 1,400 other adults who said they didn’t have genital herpes” were asked questions regarding the icky yet easily transmittable disease.

In addition to ranking herpes second to HIV as a social stigma, most of the non-infected participants said they’d steer clear of sleeping with someone who had the disease.

Only 36% of the Valtrex using pollers said they’d tell a partner about their condition before having sex, which means 64% are jumping in the sack with someone who has no idea what they’re getting into.

These numbers clearly illustrate that having herpes isn’t fun. It’s so un-fun, in fact, most people would rather infect someone else than admit to having it.

So do yourself a favor this fall and be cautious about who you invite into your bed…especially if you happen to be inviting Derek Jeter.

See… THIS is the reason why I suggested that it would behoove people to use condoms instead of being psyched about that Plan B pill. In my opinion, there are far worse consequences of unprotected sex than getting pregnant…

You can still contract herpes even if you use a condom. Condoms do not cover the entire genital area.

What would make things better would be to have a talk and make a date to go and get tested for STDs with your partner BEFORE you have sex.

Herpes is not included in the routine STD testing process so make sure you ask for that one specifically.

an even BIGGER issue is i think people totally don’t realize or think about the fact that it is SO EASY to transmit genital herpes through oral sex. everyone rants about making sure to use condoms during sex…but when will it start becoming socially acceptable to use condoms during oral sex? i, sadly, know quite a few people who have contracted herpes through oral sex.

Even with proper protection jessica you can still pass along herpes to someone else. Its not like say chlamydia where fluid must be passed its more of a skin virus which makes things alot harder to control.
