My wife and I used this after baby 1. When we were ready for baby 2, we stopped, and conceived within a week. So you go figure.

But the stats are NOT good. And no STD protection.

(sorry I wandered through here... no idea why my search for 10-Ks ended up back in college).

I think it works. I too have seen the stats, but since I can't use condoms (allergic to latex and the oil on the non latex ones), plus hormonal birth control gives me problems...

Used for over two years now, and so far no issues at all.

I've been using VCF on and off since college. Obviously, the downside is that it doesn't protect you from STD's. Also, make sure you AND your partner give it a dry test run to make sure neither one of you is allergic/sensitive to it.
This is great for me and my partner, as we are both clean, and have been tested.

Downside: You do have to put the film up to your cervix, but its easy if you squat low, and insert. (This brings the cervix down to an angle easier to push it in painlessly.)

Downside: I've had 3 partners who were sensitive to it, claiming it burned their penis, and some roommates who have used it and said the same thing.

Bottom line: Be safe people, and use condoms first. This is only 97% effective if used properly, and condoms are 99.9% effective if used properly. If you are going to use a spermicide, know that there is still a 3% chance of getting pregnant. Use this along with the rhythm method, hormonal birth control, a cervical cap, or IUD.
