Some guys just don’t quit.
You know the guys I’m talking about.
They’re your friends from elementary school. They’re your roomies who you like to pretend don’t have penises. They’re your colleagues, family friends, they’re a large percentage of all of the guys you know. And here is what they all have in common: THEY DON’T KNOW HOW TO GIVE UP.
Maybe you know in the back of your mind somewhere that this guy would totally sleep with you if you gave him the opportunity. He’s a guy, after all. But you’ve made it clear you don’t want to take things there and he’s acted like he understands.
Until it’s time for a dirty joke.
Or until he’s drunk.
Or until you start getting serious with another guy.
And there he is, waving thats little obnoxious flag of his in your face. The flag that lets you know that the ridiculous games have once again begun: the game of cat and mouse. That he won’t give up.
What is it that makes these guys tick? What is it that makes them absolutely resistant to being turned down by you? What is it that makes them say, “Hell, screw it, I’ll ask her out for the 100th time” after you’ve already told him that he is like a brother to you?
This mystery baffles me. I have no idea how to figure out this puzzle that lies in so many of the guys who I know. So I’m reaching out….do you have guy friends like this? What makes them stop? And do they even know how awkward they’re making things?

I had several guy friends like that. And from my experience, the only way to make them stop is defriend them… They will eventually get the message that you don’t even wanna be their friends, let along go out with them.
Yeah, the only way to make it stop is to just stop talking to them altogether. But what I hate even more is those guys that you don’t really know, who text or call or IM you every day, and you NEVER, EVER respond! I mean seriously, no one is THAT hard to get a hold of, OBVIOUSLY they don’t want to talk to you, OBVIOUSLY they are avoiding you! Eventually the calls and messages die down to once a week and then once a month, and then once in awhile. But they never actually stop. I guess the guy thinks “Hmm she never answered me when we first met, she didn’t answer me weeks, or months later, but now maybe years later she’ll respond” NO I FUCKING WONT! LEAVE ME ALONE!
Maybe this happens because females expect men to be chasers? So why don’t you shut your pink mouths and make up your minds?
chasers?
shyeah ok, but like after blatant hints, rejection of calls, and straight up NOs. that’s not even chasing anymore that’s just plain harassment.
we like chasers but we also don’t like beggers, stalkers and obsessers. if we said no the first and 9th time- what’s there to make up our minds about? persistence at this point don’t pay- it can only do more damage. remember how the girl always goes for the dude that doens’t give her the time of day. YEAH- BE THAT GUY, OK?
we’re trying to avoid being bitchy but this type of guy makes it nearly impossible and can even induce anxiety because of constant pressure (this is why we stop dead in our tracks and hastily change plans when we notice we’re heading for the same location). open your beady eyes, bastards!
yea, i mean i used 2 try 2 b nice 2 girls and treat them like people, but after 3 straight years of failures i changed my game plan. my senior year of high school and all of college i have treated any girl i meet like complete shit, and i have had relationships with oh idk more than half of the girls i’ve hooked up with. so, the bottom line is that girls will bitch about the nice guy that prays that an interesting attractive girl would give him the time of day, and when it never happens, he is forced 2 become an asshole 2 have any kind of a successful love life. hope i solved the mystery as 2 why most guys r dicks, but if i wait long enough i will probably see a post about some solutions 2 having an asshole boyfriend. Nina was pretty dead on, but i hope the rest of you bitches get a taste of your own medicine one day
Jake is close to being on the mark. Albeit in a rude way. I’ve been playing the nice guy game for a long time, and a few girls may have liked me but I’ll never know it, and thus I won’t hook up.
If a guys doing this, he’s trying to avoid my situation at all costs. So either find him someone else to turn his attention to or stop being around him. Perhaps give him real pointers like, hey your coming on a little too strong, try “blah blah” when you see a girl you like. Not “fuck off” then whine about it too your emotional tampon, while dreaming of a cute guy doing the same thing the guy your whining about did.
