(Note: This pic is from a very old Alloy catalog. One I probably owned and worshiped. Please know that all current catalogs have much cuter clothes.)
I’ll never forget my first Delia’s and Alloy catalog spotting.
My then BFF Shanae pulled them out during our 6th grade Social Studies class as our teacher rambled on about the meaning of Thanksgiving. I was immediately drawn to the glossy catalog of teens wearing bell bottoms and midriff baring tops that my friends and I were dying to get into.
Since that day I’ve a been faithful catalog subscriber to both and will probably remain one until I have kids and start to rethink my hatred against these.
As an avid Delia’s and Alloy shopper, I’m shocked by the large number of college girls that don’t buy from them. Where most of the college girls I know either shop at Bloomingdales or Plato’s Closet, Delia’s and Alloy serve as a happy medium. They both sell quality clothing and each host an awesome online clearance bin (I just bought a $100 dollar fire red peacoat from Delia’s for 40 bucks!).
With so many chic, sexy and comfy options, I don’t understand how college girls aren’t causing mayhem at their local Delia’s store, instead letting all the high schoolers get more bang for their buck. Here I’ve compiled some favorites of mine that are perfect for the college coed.
From Delia’s:
Blowfish Segment Flat- $49.50

Morgan Low Rise Skinny- $39.50 to $44.50
(Bonus! Their jeans also happen to be buy one pair, get a second pair half off!!)

From Alloy
Shelly Tote- $39.50

Turtleneck Sweater Dress- $39.50 to $41.50

Happy Shopping! And trust me, it will be. There is so much more cute stuff busting out of these catalogs that you won’t be able to stop! You can request their catalogs here and here.
Are there any brands/stores that you feel aren’t receiving enough recognition from college girls? What’s your best kept shopping secret? Share it, sister. SHARE IT!

..says who? im heading into my junior year of college and i just bought a huge bag of clothes at delias yesterday. and besides buy one get one half off they’re still doing the deal where if you *try on* a pair of jeans they give you a ten dollar gift cardish thing. and a 25 dollar card for the next time im there. go delias!
I constantly shop at Delia’s and Alloy.
and I’m a college junior as well.
Thank you for this! I dismissed Alloy after my high school days, but your post forced me to reconsider. It’s so nice to see more clothing options for those with a restricted budget! And that green purse is ferosh
Delia’s and Alloy just had a two-week warehouse sale in Wildwood, NJ. I went on the last day and got a green peacoat for 10 dollars, and two amazing sweaters for 6 bucks each. Their jeans don’t all fit me great but I’ve been buying from them periodically since 8th grade. Delia’s started my flats addiction with the cutest white pair that had rainbow hearts all over them! Now they’re really worn out though
I personally like Forever 21 more; they seem to have more of a variety and a lot of their things are pretty reasonable aka cheap.
I also really like Delia’s and Alloy but they don’t have physical stores around where I live, so I have to order online. Since I can’t try on things, I can’t buy pants from them :/. Or anything else that look like it’ll have to fit me JUST right.
I’ll be a Junior in college and I work at Delia’s and while I love to shop there mainly for the discount(lol) but they do have some cute stuff but most of the clients that come in are middle schoolers and then highschoolers….
the juniors pants no longer fit my butt. i need pants from the womens department. nuff said.
I’m on pins and needles waiting for an amazing pair of Alloy boots to reach my door as we speak!
Who remembers those postal pants? The black pants with the vertical white stripe? First thing I ever bought from Delia’s!
I’m also waiting on a pair of boots from Alloy. Your’s wouldn’t happen to be gray and knee-high would they?
I love it-seeing as that I’m 5′10″ they’re the only ones who realize that girls need inseams too!! I’m a s’more in college and have been buying from them forever. And will continue until they stop selling 36″ or 37″ inseams.
Their sizes don’t fit me.
I’ve always wanted to shop there for their cute cute cute tshirts.
I just got my 4th pair of morgan skinny’s in the mail today (gray ones!) and ordered a coat that was reduced from 98 to 40! i love delia*s (and this site–thanks
OMG
i freakin’ lovee delias (:
they’re so coolio (:
I personally love their skinny jeans (:
and tank topss
I love Alloy! I have ridiculously long legs and their pants are the only pants that I can comfortably stick in the dryer without the fear of them shrinking. Long live longer inseams!
This has absolutely nothing to do with the post, but does anyone remember that girl on the right-hand side a long time ago? I’m pretty sure she dated Ashley from O-Town (or one of them, IDK) at their peak (THINK..Making the Band’s debut episodes).. I just thought I’d point that out
Anyways, onto the main topic. I’m not a huge fan of Alloy or Delia’s, although I’ve been a long-time subscriber, too. I DO appreciate their denim most of the time. I’m 5′ and rather petite, so it’s hard to find jeans that actually fit. They, however, have been faithful, and the length fits perfectly!
And I’m 21. My college status is a little uncertain right now.
ZOMG! i LUV delias and alloy!!!! they both rule. idk y, but most of my friends hav never heard of alloy tho they love delias.
