I was on the phone with my friend MK last night and I was like: “MK, Did you SEE Gossip Girl last week?”
And she was like: “Oh my God, Lauren. I’m totes obsessed.”
And I was like, “Obvs, MK! The horrible acting, the great music (anybody else catch Peter, Bjorn and John in the first scene?), the awesome clothes, what’s NOT to love??”
We clearly share a mutual love for all things fashion and all things cheesy teen television, which is why I was so excited about to let MK in on my little Gossip Girl fashion secret:
There is now an online Gossip Girl store.
Not that I would buy (or could afford) Serena’s $450 dollar Tory Burch sequin dress that she wore on her date with Dan, but unlike poor little me, these characters have stylists.
And obvs, they’re much better than raisin-faced Rachel Zoe.
The best part about fashion is the way the individual pieces are mixed. And although I consider myself fashion forward, sometimes I don’t know how the hell to spice up a great piece. I usually just throw on something lowbrow and have all-together missed an opportunity to show my personality by mixing and matching pieces I wouldn’t necessarily expect.
Which is why I was taken by the styles on Gossip Girl in the first place. If you weren’t obsessed with Serena’s gold dress cum cropped jean jacket and black tights ensemble, you, my friend have got problems. It was fab. Check out the Gossip Girl Fashion Gallery after the jump!
The CW had previously jumped on the TV fashion train, showcasing styles from slightly unfashionable shows like Smallville and One Tree Hill. But with the height and glamour of Gossip Girl, the store is sure to take off, or at least get a lot of hits by ladies in the know.
My favorite part of this Gossip Girl style is the fact that they are fully aware of the fact that their normal viewers cannot afford most of the Upper East Side glamour these fictional girls are privy to. So, they’re mixing it up with high-end pieces (like the Tory Burch) and low end buys from stores like H&M and Zara.
And since H&M and Zara do not sell merch online, it’s the perfect opportunity to pick up some goods you can’t score…unless you live in the city.

So I looked for a headband like Blair’s in the Victor/Victrola episode and gave up and made my own in black. It was really easy and turned out pretty awesome. Let me know what you think!

okay i get that this article is suppose to be a Fashion Trend alert (and yes Gossip Girl does have some hot clothes) but Lauren i think it was very inconsiderate of u to critic the acting in the show. a lot of people work very hard & put everything they have into the show and let me tell you its refreshing to acutally see a show where the ppl can act. im a student at Yale where i study drama (amoung other things) and im sick of ppl putting off real talent and good story lines as teenage night time soaps when they’re clearly (too anyone who knows anything about acting) much more than that. so next time u make a comment about how someone does their job u might want to grow up and actually know wut the hell ur talking about!!

i am fairly certain the clothes from blair’s mom’s label are created especially for the show - i think there was a video on the official site about it. in other words, the blue dress LET99 is looking for and i think the yellow one ava wants would not be available in stores. until they realize the kind of money they can make by selling them to fans!
blair’s deb dress sure looks like dior to me- has that signature huge shoulder bow. that’s just a guess though.
