Sexile With Care
The dorm. The 18×10 space you are crammed
into with another girl, who may or may not be a
complete stranger, depending on your housing
situation. It’s hard enough to keep your notebooks
and gym clothes on “your” side of the room when
it’s just the two of you…try throwing a relationship
into the picture. Suddenly, you and your roommate
are juggling class schedules, study time, piles of
laundry, the remote control, and trying to throw
intimate time with a guy into the mix.

Project Runway Rundown: It’s a Jungle Out There

pr.jpgLast week, as I laughed during an episode of Project Runway for the first time all season, I felt a glimmer of hope that this season may finally be turning around. But as I watched last night’s episode while simultaneously surfing Facebook and talking on AIM cuz I was so damn bored, I came to the realization that last week was a fluke.

This season indeed sucks.

Sure, there are a few moments of hilarity (like when Terri, referring to Suede, said, “I don’t know what he’s packing…balls or vajajay. I don’t need no one sucking on my tit, so, please, man up.”), but this season really doesn’t stack up next to the those of our past.

Last night’s episode was yet another opportunity for Bravo/NBC to promote one of its products. Brooke Shields was the judge and the challenge was for the designers to create an outfit for her character to wear on Lipstick Jungle. Which is an NBC show. NBC owns Bravo.

See how they did that? See how they took one of their bigger shows on the network (Project Runway) and used it to promote one of their dying shows (Lipstick Jungle)? I am surprised they didn’t have to also incorporate some sort of GE product into the ensemble. Read More »

Christian Siriano Brings His Fierceness to BlueFly

0723_main_christian_04.jpgThis could be the fiercest Thursday since the morning after Christian Siriano took the top honor on the last season of Project Runway. Yes, my friends, today is the day that the Hot Tranny Mess of a designer launches his line on Bluefly.com!

I have been waiting a long time for this day, but after looking at his designs I realize that I am not quite sure what I was waiting for. The stuff is beautiful, don’t get me wrong; the detailing is intricate and interesting, the line is extremely diverse considering the lack of color and it all looks incredibly well made. It’s just that, well, it’s not like I can fit into that sh*t. You know, cuz I have more than 2% body fat.

Oh, and I don’t have an extra $10,000 lying around to spend on skirts and jackets.

But, even if Posh Spice is the only person who can afford/fit into this line, Little Siriano sure didn’t dissapoint. This kid has SERIOUS talent and I can’t wait for him to start designing for Target (do it, Christian. DO IT!).

Look Gorgeous with Do-It-Yourself Henna!

24-henna-tattoos.jpgThere are few things I enjoy more in life than having a tiny brown peacock on the palm of my hand.Henna, or mehndi as it’s called in Hindi, is the perfect compromise between a temporary tattoo and a permanent tattoo.

Temporary tattoos will flake (yuck) and wash off within a day, and permanent tattoos will never wash off (which is terrifying enough in itself), but henna stays on your skin for one to four weeks before fading away. It’s beautiful, it’s painless, it’s natural, and you can do it yourself.

Yep! You heard that right. Even if you have no artistic ability, henna is very forgiving, and most designs are abstract enough that you’ll be able to pass off almost anything as something gorgeous.

First, you’ll need the henna. Most Indian grocery stores stock it, so just do a quick Google search to find the store closest to where you live. It’s cheap—you shouldn’t have to pay more than $5 for the powder you need. You can also buy it online. The Henna Page has an entire list of retailers that will ship henna.

Henna cones are also available, but I find the quality in a pre-made cone isn’t as good as what you can get from mixing your own henna and making your own cone. Read More »
