New Semester, New Beginnings

Now that the New Year’s Day
hangovers are a thing of the past,
it’s time to trade in the warm sofa
for cold, hard desks as the spring

barely
making it through the fall semester

Grey’s, I Miss You

meredith greys anatomyThursday nights I like to:
a) Relax with a bottle of wine and
b) Watch Grey’s.

But since I knew a new episode was not on the horizon, I chose to compensate with some extra “a”’s which led to a night out at the bar and the hangover I’m still feeling as I sit in my cubicle. See what happens when I don’t have Grey’s in my life?

Anyway, last week’s episode really made me laugh, made me cry and left me hanging…

1) The Nazi. Initially, I really didn’t know what this guy’s deal was. Was he afraid of women? Was he gay? But soon, it became painfully obvious that he was racist. Now how Bailey handling this whole situation was classic.

She tried so hard to be the bigger person and although successful, she couldn’t help but make this dude pay for his tattoo/close-minded beliefs.

2) The ambulance crash. This is was probably the saddest and most emotional part of the episode. On one hand we have the Chief fathering emotionally unavailable Meredeth, which is so cute even though I really am not a fan of her.

And on the other, we have the paramedic exchanging his last words with his wife (which drew a few tears). It seems that Meredeth becomes emotionally invested in this situation and maybe beginning to appreciate who and what she has in her life. Read More »

Don’t Say Anything, But Grey’s is a Real Bitch

greys anatomyThe theme of last night’s episode was a little too obvious, don’t you think?

Not only did it metophorically revolve around high school with all of the silly drama between the residents (Izzy and George acting awkward and talking about each other), but victims of a high school bus crash along with Bailey’s high school crush were conveniently thrown into the mix.

Come on, people. We’re not idiots.

Regardless, I got to thinking about all that “high school” behavior. Does the petty chit-chat, back stabbing, or popularity contest ever end? Even as we move on from those good old four years of social scarring, we experience the same sh*t in college. Hello sorority life! How ya doing, roommate d-rama?

And as we graduate into “adulthood” (a.k.a. a more responsible extenstion of college since the partying never really stops), we find ourselves in work environments where people, especially the ladies, are as caddy and self-motivated as ever.

I think we all believe (or hope) that at some point the friends talking behind each other’s backs, getting in fights over guys, or selling out for one’s own benefit will dissipate over time. But sadly, as someone who has been in the working world for almost three years now, I can tell ya it doesn’t. Read More »

Grey’s, Where are you going?

grey’s anatomy

Ok, there are few things I’d like to address about last night’s episode of Grey’s.

First, can someone please explain to me why McDreamy and the Chief are living in trailers? Last time I checked these guys were doctors. Don’t doctors make lots of cash and live in big houses? Maybe I missed something. Regardless, it’s a little odd that they’re just camping out on some grassy knole.

Then we have Izzy and George. I’m sure we all saw this one coming (no pun intended) and we can probably all relate to wanting sex to be really mind-blowing with someone, when sadly it just won’t be. But this whole relationship of their’s is getting annoying. I mean, yes, there needs to be some kind of conflict to keep us entertained, but where exactly is this going? Do we really see these two tying the knot or even having good sex? My prediction is that Izzy gives him the old, “let’s just be friends again,” speech, which may force George to go crawling back to Callie, (who p.s. sucks as Chief Resident) begging her for some actual good sex.
