We Wanna Eff Leo DiCaprio
I’m not embarrassed to admit that
when I was in 7th grade, I had 102
pictures of Leonardo DiCaprio on my
wall. My room was a virtual DiCaprio
museum. I owned a copy of Baz
Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet and I had
seen Titanic more than twice, Jack’s
death causing me to sob each and every
time like I had lost a member of my own
family. You see, I was in love with Leonardo.

Rock The Look: Wide Leg Jeans

picture-9.png

[Do you ever feel like you can’t pull something off? Have trendy pieces in your closet that you would never have the courage to actually wear out? Well take those pieces out, shake off the dust, and continue reading!

In this series, I will choose a different piece that can be difficult to incorporate into an outfit and give you ideas on how to wear it. If there’s anything you would like to read about in the future, please leave a comment!]

Is anyone else getting tired of skinny jeans? I mean they look great on people like Kate Moss and Nicole Richie, but for those of us without personal trainers rocking skinny jeans can make one feel a little self-conscious. If you feel more comfortable with a wider pant (something a little more forgiving of that 3 a.m. Chinese food feast), then I suggest my current favorite style: wide leg jeans. Read More »

Not Flattering on Anyone: The Kate Moss for Topshop Collection

topshopkate.jpg

I adore the whole designer-lines-at-discount-stores trend, and more specifically I love love LOVE Topshop, the stylish UK chain that’s finally coming to New York in the Fall (Yay!). But dear lord, Kate Moss, you’re making my life difficult.

A month or so ago, Topshop launched the latest collection from Moss, which, frankly, hasn’t been doing that well so far. Critics point out that Moss seems to be designing clothes for, well, herself; so unless you’re tall and ridiculously skinny and possibly a recovering coke addict, her clothes probably won’t look good on you. They will look good on her though! Super!

This new collection is no different (ridiculously long floor-length dress: if you’re shorter than 6’, it can double as a broom!), but with an added bonus: it’s all really ugly! Let’s take a quick look, shall we? Read More »

New GO International Collection from Target, Arriving March 2nd!

jovovich-hawk.jpgIn case you haven’t heard yet, Milla Jovovich and Carmen Hawk have been tapped to bring their Jovovich-Hawk line to the people by way of Target. A few photos of the collection have been leaked around the internet, and it looks great.

Jovovich-Hawk is known for a vintage-looking femininity, perfect for pulling off a boho look.

Target’s GO collection is perfect for those of us who love clothes, but hate spending money on them. Cheap clothes don’t have to be poorly designed, and Target’s lines are a perfect blend of high fashion and ready-to-wear style.

I was out of the country for a while, and sadly missed out on many of Target’s great lines (although I was lucky enough to snag a few pieces from the Kate Moss for Tophshop collection), but as soon as I got back I went on a spree, first picking up an adorable grey ruffled dress designed by Alice Temperley, and later a cardigan with heart-shaped buttons designed by Erin Fetherston. Japanese Guys Strive to be “Skinny and Cute”

0328_a77.jpg Every day, girls all over America are doing their best to be “cute and skinny”.

Dieting, working out, spending hours in the bathroom, squeezing ourselves into tight pants, strapping on a pair of Spanx, we’ll do whatever it takes to reach the pinnacle of girly beauty.

Over in Japan, guys are doing the exact same thing (minus the Spanx…I think).

Traditionally, it was the women of Japan who strived to be tiny, but after the country went through a “health and exercise boom” about 7 years ago, the “new Japanese woman” wasn’t afraid to show off her curves and muscles, and was “proud” of her sexuality.

Guys, on the other hand, started to shrink.

Young males between the ages of 18 and 30 make up the slimmest segment of the [Japanese] population” explains the International Herald Tribune, “and the ideal fashion weight as decreed by the apparel industry is 57 kilograms, or about 125 pounds, for a height of 175 centimeters, or 5 feet 8 inches”.

No six-packs or bursting biceps here. At 125 pounds, most of these guys probably don’t have the arm strength to lift much of anything, let alone weights. Read More »
