Miss Teen Louisiana: Another Fallen Beauty Queen…

lindsey-evans.jpg…At least this one wasn’t hopped up on drugs (though she was in possession), alcohol, or showing her ta-ta’s to the world.

Lindsey Evans, 18, a.k.a. Miss Teen Louisiana, was charged with theft and drug possession after she and her cronies pulled a good ol’ dine and dash and ditched out on a bill of almost $50.

But here’s the kicker…

The oh-so-bright beauty queen left her purse at the restaurant and upon returning to retrieve it, was greeted by police who placed her under arrest for the D & D and let her know they found her stash of the Mary Jane in her purse.

Sigh.

Will they ever learn? And aren’t these girls supposed to be role models? Somehow I imagine getting high and ordering $50 worth of food (that you don’t pay for) isn’t setting such a great example to the younger Louisians.

Although, Louisiana also boasts the Spears sisters as its own, so maybe Lindsey Evans isn’t all that bad.

And she looked so innocent….

Beauty Pageants Are Full of Sh*t

beauty pageant contestantWhy on earth anyone watches beauty pageants other than to tune in and pray that the contestants fall on their asses is beyond me.

But to actually be in a beauty pageant? Nooo, but thank you.

The NYTimes reports that these contests are much more superficial than you think, and that’s not saying a whole lot. It turns out that many of these girls are duped into thinking they’re gonna win a ton of money and scholarships of some sort, but they never reap the educational or financial benefits.

Ashley Wood, a pissed-off ex Miss USA who never got the money she actually won, said,

You are talking about an organization that is promoting itself as the largest scholarship provider for women in the world….When contestants try to collect their funds, they encounter one obstacle after another.”

These problems have something to do with all of the local and state pageants that are scattered around the country being tied under the national pageants, and apparently, local pageant winners hardly ever collect - the states could take these local pageants to court, but they have limited control over them in the first place, and to even do that would cost more than what these girls are actually owed.

One girl was even told after winning a pageant that instead of the scholarship she was promised, she could just take home some gowns!! Are you kidding me? Read More »

Miss Teen South Carolina: Miss Understood?

miss south carolinaAfter her less-than-stellar answer to a simple question concerning maps during the “Miss Teen USA” pageant Lauren Caitlin Upton appeared on the Today show to redeem herself.

Matt Lauer and Ann Curry, ever the defenders, hand-fed South Carolina’s finest cartographer her dignity by strategically answering the questions they asked before Upton had a chance to.

Curry: “…And it was the first time you had actually been on national television. Here you were competing and it was…it was…just one of those moments when you were asked this question…I’m sure everything came at you at once.”

Upton: “Yes. Everything did come at me at once.”

Moments later Lauer chimed in with an assist:

Lauer: “Please don’t let it get you down. I mean…and I know the fact that it’s on YouTube and a lot of people are watching it right now probably has to be a double-edged sword. On the one hand you think it’s kind of funny; on the other hand it’s not all that funny to you, is it?”

Upton: “Um, no, but then again looking back on it I am sitting here laughing at myself.” Read More »
