Once upon a time, there was a girl. And her friend. And a boy.

Girl meets boy, girl likes boy, girl’s like is clearly unrequited. Friend hates boy, friend grows to like boy, friend and boy go out.

And boy, did the stinky brown substance hit the fan.

Rudge from The History Boys defined history as, “one f*%king thing after another.” This can also be applied to the demise of this relationship. One argument turned into some petty fight. Over a boy. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love my friends, but back then, when they had a bust up, to a girl like me who’d always held the Hoes over Bros rule golden, this was sacrilege.

No, there are no happy endings, and no, they never made up. Yes, I am bitter and disillusioned, and yes, this is exactly why I don’t believe in hoes over bros anymore.

On Gossip Girl, Serena did the unforgiveable and slept with her best friend’s boyfriend. And sure, her best friend was angry and wanted revenge, but ultimately, she took her back. Warner Brothers announced this week that they’re launching theWB.com. The website will be the premiere destination for free, streaming, WB content. This includes everything from old favorites like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gilmore Girls, and Smallville to shows Warner Brother’s had their hand in like Friends and The OC. The website will also feature older programs (The Jetsons, Gilligan’s Island) and brand new WB content created especially for the online venture.

Why is this such big news? It gives some of these shows a brand new forum and a chance to garner new fans. I am a TV fanatic but I never caught wind of Veronica Mars or Everwood. Now, I, and millions of others will have the opportunity to do just that, and for free.

Initiatives like iTunes, Hulu (a website featuring free Universal and Fox television shows and films), and TheWb.com, not only gives these programs a second chance, but they’re changing the way we conceptualize and watch television.

TV is not something you ogle after dinner time anymore. You can watch it on your phone while you ride the bus to work, you can watch it on your laptop when you get to work or you can record your favorite shows and watch them whenever and however you want. It’s a fascinating shift to watch and websites like this are at the vanguard of this movement.

So be on the lookout for theWB.com, not only to catch up on those old episodes of One Tree Hill, but to catch technological history in the making. And if nothing else, these old promos should get you excited.

There is a reason why pro-football players aren’t actors. The same reason why actors aren’t pro-football players.

There is a reason we come into this nice, little world, with…gifts. And unless you’re some SUPER HUMAN FREAK, you don’t tend to have gifts that cross into a million different categories.

So when Vanessa Minnillo, used-to-be MTV VJ and super babe girlfriend to Nick Lachey, Jessica Simpson’s former husband, announces she is making, “a film.“, I want to tell her to grab a microphone, bust out an ab-roller, do her hair, tell me what the number one video of the week is, and then-shut up.

I get that a job like VJing is, to most, a platform to a “greater success.” But when was the last time a VJ came out with an Oscar winning, or even bearable film that didn’t go straight to DVD? I don’t think ever? Or didn’t join some cheesy teen sitcom (One Tree Hill- Hilarie Burton)?

For years us British viewers have been bombarded with US shows that supposedly depict the lives of teenagers and British telly had never been able to compete…until now.

Skins exploded onto British television and into the consciousness of young viewers in late 2006 and early 2007. The raw energy, humour, wit, and intelligence of the show was unbelievable and never seen before. Skins deals with issues such as drugs, sexuality, race and the difficulties of growing up. It’s British youth culture to the max.

The fast-paced energy of Skins mimics the flow of hormones that surge in the blood of real teenagers. The issues and storylines are entertaining yet easy to relate to or emphasize with. The characters are far from the typical one-dimensional entity, with the writers really getting into the minds of the individual they have created, rather than simply having them ‘exist’. Girls can be classified as bitches. Gay men can too. But can straight guys fall into the ‘bitchy’ category?

Yup.

The Bitchy Straight Guy is one of the most annoying categories of the male species. He comes in many different shapes and sizes; sometimes he’s a thin hipster with stupid hair (like Marcel Vigneron, a contestant on last season’s Top Chef), sometimes he’s a balding, pseudo creative type (like Dustin Diamond, aka Screech, from this season’s Celebrity Fit Club), and other times he’s a popped-collar, J-Crew sandal wearing frat dude (Chad Michael Murray comes to mind…at least in looks and based on that little marriage snafu with his costar).
