Estelle Getty - My Hero - Dead at 84

estelle.jpgI was hangin’ out last night, watching Tori and Dean, Home Sweet Hollywood (OMG…did I just admit that?) when I got a text from my brother. He had just turned on the news and heard that Estelle Getty - the one and only Sophia from Sicily - had passed away.

Golden Girls was one of my all-time favorite shows growing up, and even more so now that I actually understand all the jokes. It was Boca Raton’s answer to Sex and the City…before Carrie Bradshaw was even tapping away on her MacBook. It was way ahead of its time, and has since stood the test of time. Not the fashion, maybe, but the content for sure.

Of course, Sophia wasn’t Getty’s only role. This woman was a comedic genius and definitely someone I have always looked up to (metaphorically, of course). I spent all morning looking for funny old videos of her career on YouTube (because my DVD collection of the entire Golden Girls series isn’t enough), but instead found a bunch of crazy people making sad montages set to depressing tunes. It just didn’t seem to fit; this woman spent her life making us laugh. Why should we remember her with tears?

Then I found this gem. Estelle Getty at her finest. God, I love this woman.

Amy Winemouse and Pete Dirty Sincerely Disturb Me

So, when you’ve got tons of money, a serious addiction to drugs, a husband who’s in jail, a closet full of jean shorts from the Limited Too, and a friend named Pete “incredibly dirty” Doherty, what do you spend your afternoon doing?

…playing with day old baby mice and recording it on YouTube.
(All the while high as a f*cking high ass kite)

I’m sorry if this video disturbs anyone. It kinda disturbs me. Mostly because baby mice are freaky looking and I’m afraid that Winehouse and Doherty and gonna pull a Lenny (a la Of Mice and Men) and somehow pet those poor things to death.

See if you can keep yourself from saying No, No, No and stomach the whole video.

Quickie: Keep Your Eye On the Bouncing Ball(s)

Okay, so it’s Wednesday, which is halfway through the week but not halfway enough. Also, my biorhythms have been totally scraping the bottom of the barrel lately, and the full moon last night had me up until 2 AM, staring at a tiny crack in my ceiling, mentally computing how months it’s been since I spent time sleeping next to someone who wasn’t my old, tattered teddy bear.

(And no, I will not reveal the heinous amount of time)

On the off chance there are other girls feeling the way I do today, I decided to post this video of half-naked Brazilian dudes doing a dance that has apparently taken over the country called the Funk da Cueca.

Considering the amount of bouncing that’s going on, I can’t decide if this is actual porn or not, but really, after an 8 hour day, who cares?

Laugh. Enjoy. Feel slightly uncomfortable…whatevs.

It’s Wednesday, bitches!

You Too Can Get Famous from YouTube!

It’s not new that people are chasing fame via YouTube with their crappy videos and bad covers. Usually this fame is sought after.

However, UK resident Bryony Matthewman has built a huge international fan base doing what us Americans do best! Making fun of people for no reason! Check out her tips to Jamie Lynn (as if she’s Britney).
