SO Hyped About The Hype Machine

hype-machine.jpgI spend a lot of time looking for new music. I’m one of those people that gets gratification in having music that no one else does. I don’t know why, and I know its stupid, but… it’s just the way I am. I take pride when my unknowns turn into knowns, and get agitated when the Grammy’s give someone a Best New Artist award on their fifth album.

But I waste a lot of time on music blogs, weeding through the one’s I find to be bullshit, and searching for the songs I like on Limewire, or I mean, iTunes. I tell myself I’ll just look around for a little bit, and before I know it, it’s 3 in the morning, and the good night of sleep I was looking forward to is almost over.

Someone has decided to make my life a little easier—and I think I’m kind of in love with him for it. Meet The Hype Machine, maybe one of the coolest music sites I have come across. The people at Hype go through the bajillion music blogs out there, and post all the most talked about tracks in one place.

It’s pages, and pages of new songs and artists, and I’m so excited about it I think my head may explode. I haven’t been this happy since Christian Bale took his clothes off in American Psycho.

It’s easy to use too—click the listen button next to the song name to see if you like it. Click the iTunes, or Amazon button to purchase it. It’s Team Lazy’s dream come true. They even have lists and links to popular blogs, and to those which have been updated recently.

What makes it even better (if that’s possible) is the radio station that streams all the tracks you’re reading about. Thus far I have compiled a 15 song list that I need to buy, and I’ve only been on for about 30 minutes. You know that band the Klaxons? I just came across a wicked cover of JT’s My Love. Sure, there’s a lot of crap on there… rather things that are not fit to my taste, but it’s just nice to hear something that is not Akon, or Fergie.

If you’re a music lover, definitely check this site out—you’ll feel like you just fell in love for the first time. Even if you’re not a die hard music fan, it’s fun to hear what else is out there.

Cali, you should try going on hype machine and look up Soulwax, there you should get a list of their remixes which are nearly all great but I think you would like their remix of Gravity’s Rainbow, it is simply amazing.

Thom Yorke? As in Radiohead, Black Swan, Thom Yorke? Very nice.

  6. Thom Yorke says :

No, I must admit that this is not Thom Yorke of Radiohead but just a huge fan of him and his music who is too scared to comment on this site under his own name. That though however doesn’t change the fact that the remix I mentioned earlier is good and that hypemachine is great for finding remixes and other rarities by your favorite artists, like Radiohead.
